Moonstone

Moonstone is a gemstone from the feldspar group. It has a luminous milky appearance with a bluish sheen. Moonstone exhibits a phenomenon called adularescence that creates a moonlit glow when held at the right angle.

An alternative name for moonstone is hecatolite (from the goddess Hecate).

The Romans considered the gemstone to be solidified pieces of the moon. They associated it to lunar deities, like Diana, the goddess of the hunt and the moon.

The ancient Greeks associated moonstone with their own lunar gods, seeing it as a symbol of love and healing.

Moonstone is associated with promoting emotional balance and new beginnings, and is regarded as a sacred feminine stone. It is used in crystal healing to enhance intuition, reduce stress, and improve sleep, often worn close to the skin to calm emotional instability. Historically, it is regarded as a protective talisman for travelers and a symbol of love.
